Review: Plaza Premium Lounge Vancouver (Domestic Departure)

Our Banff trip started with a visit to the Plaza Premium Lounge Vancouver in the domestic terminal. This was my mother and my sister’s first ever lounge visit, and both were very satisfied.

Location and access

Plaza Premium Lounge has two locations at the domestic terminal. The one near Gate B17 is a proper lounge, while the one near Gate C29 is just a storefront. Terminals are not far away from each other, so everyone should head to the one near B17.

All three of us accessed the lounge using the free lounge passes from credit cards. Nowadays there are many credit cards that offer airport lounge access. I got 4 passes from CIBC Aventura Gold Visa. My mom got her 4 passes from BMO World Elite MasterCard.

Layout and amenities

The lounge is located on the floor above the departure level. We came in at 8 am. Many people were already in the lounge, but there was still plenty of room.

The bar near the entrance looked quite stylish. Of course, nothing was available in the morning.

There were plenty of seats inside the lounge.

There are also cubicles for people who want to work. They looked small and tight.

Food and Beverages

We used the lounge in the morning and had breakfast here. The buffet was excellent and way better than the ones provided by hotels. First, there was a coffee machine that provides a variety of coffee and espresso drinks. I had a cup of latte and it was good.

Cereals were of course available. I usually don’t have them for breakfast.

Salads and yogurts were kept refrigerated in this section. I don’t know if people eat salads in the morning or not, but they provided four options.

There were three kinds of hot food available, all of which were decent. They were pancakes, egg omelette with cheese, and sausages. I was quite impressed with the egg omelettes because I only expected to have scrambled eggs. They weren’t fancy but still tasted great.

There were also two types of soup.

Conclusion

This Plaza Premium Lounge in the domestic terminal was very nice and at the same level as the SkyTeam Lounge in the international terminal. I am glad that I arrived at the airport early so that I had time to stop by. Lounge visits really made my trips even better than ever!
