Marutama Ramen is one of the numerous ramen restaurants in Vancouver which features creamy chicken broth. Its taste is very different from the ramen I had before.
I had the cha shu men for dinner while my sister had the tan men. All of their ramens have four basic items: the signature creamy chicken broth, green onions, AOSA (a kind of seaweed), and cha shu meat (except for tan men). You won’t see flavours such as shio (salt), shoyu (soy sauce), or miso in this place.
I could tell that chicken broth was cooked for a long time as it reminded me of the chicken soup I made at home. It was a completely new experience to have ramen with this flavour. Having seaweed as a topping was also new to me. It tasted great with the noodles and the broth.
I also tried the tan men, and the taste was exactly the same. It is vegetable ramen with the same chicken broth.
With so many ramen restaurants in the city, Marutama Ramen is for sure one of the more interesting ones. My first impression of the ramen was good, but I think I will have a better conclusion after a few more visits. When visiting the Central Library, don’t forget to give it a try!
