Cactus Club Café is a Vancouver casual fine dining restaurant chain serving Pacific Northwest cuisine. It is very popular among locals. I finally went to the Coquitlam location in June for the first time in 12 years living in the city.
I was with my family, and we started our lunch with two cocktails. The first one was the Bellini. They made it into a frozen drink, which was very nice to have on a sunny day. With peach puree and prosecco, it tasted sweet and smooth. I liked it a lot.
My sister ordered
My main course was Hunter Chicken. My sister, who has been to Cactus Club many times, highly recommended this dish. It came with various kinds of mushroom, mashed potatoes, and green beans in demi-glace, a rich brown sauce. I am not a big fan of the mushroom, but all the rest was pretty good.
My mom and my sister had burgers. They were good but looked pretty standard. They are a safe choice if you don’t know what to get.
Overall, the food and the drink at Cactus Club Cafe was good, but I don’t think I will go there very often. While the drinks are very affordable during happy hours, the price of the hunter chicken is quite high in my standards.
Another problem I have with chained restaurants like Cactus Club Cafe is that they serve all kinds of cuisines, from teriyaki chicken to peking duck to tacos. I don’t know why they offer such dishes, nor do I know why people would order these dishes here. I guess people don’t think it is a big problem because my sister and her friends eat at this restaurant once a month.
