iThai is a Thai restaurant in the Edmonds area of Burnaby. It is my second time in recent years having Thai cuisine, and I think I like it more and more!
This review is based on my visit in October 2017. I don’t see any obvious changes in their menu in the past year. My memory has faded, but I will try my best to describe the tastes and my feelings.
I was with my sister, who has been here many times. She first ordered the papaya salad, which consisted of green papaya slices, carrot slices, green beans, tomatoes, and peanuts in lime juice. The portion was quite big. I liked it a lot because of the sour taste.
We ordered the soup with coconut milk again. Like what we had before, It came with chicken and a lot of veggies, including the mushrooms which I don’t appreciate. The soup, Tom Kha Gai is described as “hot and sour chicken soup with coconut milk and Thai spices” on the menu. We chose no spicy, and it was delicous as expected.
Lastly, we had the vegetarian green curry as our main dish. Last time, we were shocked at the spicy level of the curry, but we still went for a little bit of spiciness. It turned out that the green curry was very mild and not spicy. It is very suitable for people who can’t handle spiciness. This was my first time having it and tasted quite good. I used to have not so great opinion of Thai curry, but not anymore.
iThai is a neighbourhood restaurant with great Thai food. I really enjoy the tropical flavour. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a chance to have any Thai food in the past 10 months. I should go back and try other curry dishes!
