Ramen is one of my favourite Japanese food. This spring, I visited or revisited 3 ramen stores, and Hokkaido Ramen Santouka was one of them. I’ve been to its Robson store before, and it remains one of my top picks in Vancouver.
This ramen place gets very busy in the afternoon. My mom and I arrived at 11:00 in the morning to avoid the crowd. In the afternoon or the evening, there is usually a big lineup and the wait time is more than half-an-hour long.
The store only offers 4 types of ramen with only basic flavours, including shoyu, shio, and miso. I ordered the shoyu ramen set with a bowl of salmon on rice. My mom had the same, and we also ordered gyozas to share. The ramen was delicious and amazing as always. The rice with salmon was OK without a lot of flavour. I think I will just get a large ramen instead if I am super hungry next time.
This place is far from both work and home, so it is not a place I can go to very often. I really hope they open more stores in Metro Vancouver. I highly recommend this place to everyone, both ramen veterans or newbies. No one will get disappointed!
